Adding an auction item

Method 1 - Drag and Drop
  1. Launch the eBay Item Watcher and web browser. Arrange the windows so you see both.
  2. In the eBay Item Watcher, if not already started, start the monitor process by clicking the "Start Stop Toggle" button or selecting [Edit] > [Start Monitor] from the main menu.
  3. In your browser, navigate to the web page that displays the link to the required auction web page.
  4. In your browser, click on the link and hold the mouse button down.
  5. Drag the link from your browser into the white list section of the eBay Item Watcher and release the mouse button.


Method 2 - Insert the auction by ID number

  1. Launch the eBay Item Watcher.
  2. If not already started, start the monitor process by clicking the "Start Stop Toggle" button or selecting [Edit] > [Start Monitor] from the main menu.
  3. Click the "Add Item" button or select [Edit] > [Add New Item] from the main menu.
  4. Insert the auctions ID number into the "Add New Item" window.
  5. Click the [add] button.
  6. Click the [Close] button.


Method 3 - Insert the auction web address

  1. Launch the eBay Item Watcher.
  2. If not already started, start the monitor process by clicking the "Start Stop Toggle" button or selecting [Edit] > [Start Monitor] from the main menu.
  3. Click the "Add Item" button or select [Edit] > [Add New Item] from the main menu.
  4. Insert the auctions web address into the "Add New Item" window.
  5. Click the [add] button.
  6. Click the [Close] button.

Importing lists of auctions by Seller Name

You can import all the auctions listed by a single seller by entering an eBay sellers name into the "Import by Seller ID" section.

  1. Launch the eBay Item Watcher.
  2. If not already started, start the monitor process by clicking the "Start Stop Toggle" button or selecting [Edit] > [Start Monitor] from the main menu.
  3. Click the "Search Or Import" button or select [Edit] > [Add Items From Search URL (eBay Only)] from the main menu.
  4. Select the "Import by seller ID" tab.
  5. Select the eBay web site for the seller.
  6. Insert the name of the seller you wish to import into the "Seller ID" text box.
  7. Click the [Import] button.
  8. Wait for the import process to finish. If the seller lists over 200 items, you will be asked to confirm the import.
  9. Click the [Close] button.

Importing lists of auctions from a web page

You can import all the auction web addresses listed on web page by using the "Search Import from URL" window. Examples of web pages that list auctions are, eBay search results, your watch list, your selling list and eBay shop pages.

  1. Launch the eBay Item Watcher.
  2. If not already started, start the monitor process by clicking the "Start Stop Toggle" button or selecting [Edit] > [Start Monitor] from the main menu.
  3. Click the "Search Or Import" button or select [Edit] > [Add Items From Search URL (eBay Only)] from the main menu.
  4. Select the "Import from web page" tab.
  5. Insert the web address of the page which lists the auctions to be imported into the import text box.
  6. Click the [Import] button.
  7. Wait for the import process to finish.
  8. Click the [Close] button.

Searching eBay web sites

You can use the "Search / Import From URL" window to directly search the supported eBay web sites. Auctions that match your search criteria are automatically added to the applications list of watched items.

  1. Launch the eBay Item Watcher.
  2. If not already started, start the monitor process by clicking the "Start Stop Toggle" button or selecting [Edit] > [Start Monitor] from the main menu.
  3. Click the "Search Or Import" button or select [Edit] > [Add Items From Search URL (eBay Only)] from the main menu.
  4. Select the "ebay Search" tab.
  5. Insert the search term you wish to use.
  6. Select the eBay web site you wish to search.
  7. Select the category you wish to filter by.
  8. Select the maxium number of matches.
  9. Click the [Search] button.
  10. Wait for the search process to finish.
  11. Click the [Close] button.

Adding alerts

Alerts let you know when things change in an auction. You can set alert triggers on when:

Alert triggers are indicated by blue (or red if triggered) icons in the auctions list details.

Method 1 - Add by context menu
  1. Highlight the required item(s) and right click on one of them.
  2. In the context popup menu, mouseover the [Alerts - Selected Item(s)] menu item.
  3. In the subsequent child menu, mouseover the required alert trigger menu item.
  4. In the following child menu, click on [Enable] menu item.


Method 2 - Add by "eBay Item Detail" window.

  1. Right click on the require auction item in th list.
  2. In the context popup menu, click the [Item Detail] menu item.
  3. In the "eBay Item Detail" window, click the required alert check boxes.

Using the integrated web browser

The eBay Item Watcher now includes an integrated web browser. The browser is positioned below main item list.

Open items in the browser
To open auction items in the browser:
  • Ensure the browser is enabled (See hiding the browser below)
  • Double click on the required item in the main list area.
or
  • Right click on the required item in the main list area.
  • Select "Open" from the pop-up context menu.

Resizing the browser
The browser can be resized by dragging the dividing bar.
  • Hover the mouse over the grey dividing bar. Note the cursor changes to an up / down indicator.
  • Click on and hold down the left mouse button on the divding bar.
  • Move the mouse up and down until the required size is obtained.
  • Release the mouse.

Hiding the browser
To disable and hide the browser:
  • Select [Main Menu] > [View] > [Integrated browser] to toggle the browser display
Note: While the browser is disbaled, items will open in your normal default web browser.

Setting the browser start up page
To set the web address used as the intial start up page when the eBay Item Watcher is launched:
  • Open the preferences window.
  • Insert the required web address into the "Start Page" text area.
  • Close the preferences window to save your changes.

Notes
  • The browser is based on Internet Explorer so will react to any configuration changes made to your Internet Explorer settings.
  • You can drag and drop auction links from the web browser into the list item area to add new items.
  • It is possible to use the intrated browser for normal web navigation. Right clicking in the browser window will display a context menu of options.

Using the alert ticker viewer

The eBay Item Watcher now includes an alert message ticker viewer. The ticker can be resized and positioned anywhere on the screen. As auction details change, alert messages are displayed in the ticker and scroll from right to left.

Moving the ticker
To move the ticker to a new position:
  • Click and hold the left mouse button in the positional drag area.
  • With the left mouse held down, drag the ticker to the required position.
  • Release the mouse button.

Resizing the ticker
To change the width of the ticker:
  • Click and hold the left mouse button on the resize drag area.
  • With the left mouse held down, move the mouse left or right until the required width is obtained.
  • Release the mouse button.

Hiding the ticker
To temporarily hide the ticker:
  • Click the left mouse button on the close button.
Note: The ticker will re-appear when a new alert message is triggered.

Disable the ticker
To disable the ticker:
  • Open the preferences widow.
  • Untick the "Show alert ticker tape" check box.
  • Close the preferences to save your changes.

Note
  • You can not interact with the ticker while the preferences window is open.
